The 2003 Hyundai Tiburon was a sport coupe designed by rapidly emerging South Korea’s automaker during 2003. It had new styling, larger dimensions, and a V6 four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine.
Changes in 2003 Hyundai Tiburon
In comparison to the previous version, the 2003 Hyundai Tiburon had larger dimensions, wheelbase, and over length. More so, its curb weight was increased by 200 pounds. Just like its previous version, it was offered in GT V6 and base trim levels.
These trim levels were provided with conventional front side air bags and traditional antilock breaking system. GT V6 and base levels were produced by using 2.6 liter V6 and 2.0 liter four-cylinder engines respectively.
Tiburon vs Sonata & Santa Fe
Sonata sedan and Santa Fe SUV were also designed with the same 2.6 liter V6 engine, which was employed in GT V6. The 2003 Hyundai Tiburon was matched to a standard manual five speed automatic transmission and an optional four-speed automatic transmission.
The automatic mechanism had also a physical shift gate. In GT V6 an optional 6-speed manual gearbox was included, while base version was built with 16-inch alloy wheels, whereas GT V6 version had 17-inch alloy wheels. Both had 4-wheel disk brakes and optional sunroofs, but traction control was unavailable.

As a whole it was an excellent vehicle, and the closest competitors to the 2003 Hyundai Tiburon were Toyota Celica, Mini Cooper, RSX, and Acura.
