Due to the emergance of a 2011-2012 Tiburon Replacement known only as the Veloster Coupe Concept the Hyundai Tiburon‘s days are likely numbered. The staggering success of the Genesis Coupe may be swaying the direction that Hyundai will be taking in the future. Many believe the first to get an overhaul and/or replacement will be the front wheel drive Tiburon. Rumors have spread about a new concept car based on the 2007 Veloster Coupe Concept seen at the Chicago Auto Show.

Eco Friendly Tiburon Replacement Rumors Or Reality

Some other information going around about this new concept car is that it probably won’t be called “Tiburon” and it will be smaller and cost less than the current Tiburon model. CEO John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America and others at Hyundai describe it as a car that will be categorized as an “Eco Sport”.

Veloster Specifications

The new Tib will likely be based on the same FWD technology used in the Hyundai Elantra. The engine in the concept veloster was a 1.6L 4 Cylinder, which seems like a proper fit for the car considering it’s marketing position as a friend of nature.

Scion tC Fighter Main Competitor

The car has some significant competition in foresight as the infamous Scion tC fighter is scheduled to arrive around the same time as this new, as of yet unamed Hyundai in 2011-2012.
